Adam Zimmer
Was born in Pennsylvania, August 30, 1833, and died in his late home in Scott Township, April 10, 1905, age 71 years, 7 months and 19 days. When a small boy his parents moved to Portage county, Ohio and at the age of 20 he came with his parents to Steuben County, where he has since resided. Forty-one years ago he moved to the farm where he lived when death came. At that time this farm was a dense forest and he labored hard to bring it under careful cultivation and to convert it into a pleasant home. He was married November 25 1858, to Mariah Williams. To this union were born seven children, three sons and four daughters. One son, William H., was removed by death from the family circle Sept. 2, 1900. Besides his mother, the faithful companion of this man for more than 46 years and the sons and daughters mentioned, two sisters and one brother and thirteen grandchildren are left to mourn their loss. One grandchild died in infancy. Mr. Zimmer was christened when a child and baptized into Christ when 14. He was a firm believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. To those who were near to him and understood him best, he was more than once moved to say:” Other men do not know all the secret communings which the soul of man has with his Lord.” Funeral services were held at South Scott, conducted by Elder Vernon Stauffer, and were very largely attended.
