William "Billy" Grayson Adkins, 57, of Waynesboro, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2013, at Shenandoah House in Fishersville. Billy was born on April 6, 1956, in Charlottesville, to the late, Henry "Slim" Morris Adkins and the late, Mary Frances Mawyer Adkins. Billy attended Waynesboro Public School system, loved everything NASCAR and worked for many years as a race car mechanic for Philip Morris and in home construction. The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at the Shenandoah House and the staff at the UVA Hope Cancer Center. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by a brother, Larry "Slats" Adkins. Billy is survived by a brother, Morris "Oscar" Adkins and his wife, Linda; two sisters, Gail L. Adkins and Patricia Fitzgerald and her husband, Danny; sister-in-law, Debbie G. Adkins; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at the chapel of Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 961 Goose Creek Road, Fishersville, VA 22939, conducted by the Reverend Tim Duggins and Mr. Philip Morris. Family and friends are welcome to visit at the home of his sister, Gail, 1827 Westminster Road, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
