Robert Leo Baker, 93, of Walnut Creek, formerly of Navarre, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born February 4, 1930, on the Baker farm in Beach City, to the late Lloyd and Gertrude (Knodel) Baker. He graduated from Beach City High School in 1948. On June 3, 1951, he married Janet (Lind) Baker at Saint Paul's United Church of Christ in Navarre. She preceded him in death in 2017. Beginning in 1954, Bob was self-employed with Archway Homestyle Cookies. He retired from Archway after 40 years but was known as the "cookie man" for the rest of his life. For many years he was an active community member involved with the Navarre Lions Club, Fairless Band Boosters, and the Navarre Bethlehem Township Historical Society. Bob was a lifelong member of St. Paul UCC where he sang in the choir for 48 years. He was a member of the 76 Fellowship, served on the church council and was a former co-director of youth fellowship. He and Janet enjoyed traveling to many countries with family and friends. Preceded in death by his son-in-law, James McQueary; and his siblings: Eileen DeHass, Glen (Irene) Baker, Margie (Glen) Reed, Mardelle Lee, Norma (Robert) Hall, Lloyd Richard Baker, and Carl (Betty) Baker; and brothers-in-law, William and Robert Lind; Bob is survived by his children: Jed (Laurie) Baker of Millersburg, Jody McQueary of South Bend, Indiana, and Jyl (Roger) Secrest, of Marysville; grandchildren: Jennifer (Paul) Robinett, Jason McQueary, Jamie (Ben) Marlatt, Josh (Helen) Secrest, Joey (Patrick) Cotter, Jenna (Edward) Braun, and Jadon Baker; step-grandchildren: Steve (Jody) Secrest and Julie (Dennis) Lokken; great-grandchildren: Josie Robinett, Joseph McQueary, Jayna, Jennesee and Jettie Marlatt, Sullivan and Nola Cotter, Jameson and Jolie Braun; step-great-grandchildren: Maggie and Molly Secrest, Jasmine Johnson, Corey Coyne-Lokken,and Cassie and Breanna Lokken; and great-great-grandchildren, Sonny and Rayne Secrest; sisters-in-law, Barbara and Donna Lind; and many nieces and nephews. Services are Sunday, May 28th, at St. Paul's UCC, 337 N. Main St., Navarre, Ohio 44662. Viewing is from 2:00-4:00 p.m., in the church, with the funeral at 4:00 p.m. A meal will follow. Interment will be at 11:00 Tuesday morning, May 30th, at East Union Lawn Cemetery. The family has suggested memorial contributions made to Life Care Hospice, 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, OH, 44691 or to St. Paul's UCC Memorial Fund.
