Donald T.Bidwell, 74, of Albany died Thursday at Samaritan Albany General Hospital. Don was born in Ten Mile, Tenn., to Whit and Grace (Hughes) Bidwell. Don came to Albany in his teens. He was in the Army from 1951 to 1955. He worked at the Albany Paper Mill from 1959 to 1995. Nobody was a stranger to Don. He loved to be around people. He also loved slow pitch Softball, fishing, hunting and golf. Don worked as a volunteer at the Albany Senior Center and never liked to miss work. Sweet Waters restaurant was his second home. They fed him well, and gave him love and immense support. His love for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was like no other. Our memories of Don will keep us going with love and hope. God bless him. Don is survived by his wife, Jan; daughters Dawn and Pam; son Dan; grandchildren Brad and Andrea Emerson, and Amber Smith; great-grandchildren Violet, Alexander, Hayden and Eli; brothers Joe, Roy and Bill; and sister Wilma Alexander. He was preceded in death by both parents and several siblings. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 24 at Oak Creek Christian Center.
