North Augusta, SC – The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Richard Legrand Flake, 87, who entered into rest May 21, 2023, will be conducted Thursday, May 25th, at 12 noon at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Father Antonydas Gaspar celebrant. Interment will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 11 until 12 noon.
Mr. Flake was born July 21, 1935, to the late Albert Sidney Flake and Nancy McMichael Flake. He was raised in North, SC, having made North August his home for most of his adult life. Mr. Flake served in the Army National Guard for four years and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. He was the owner and operator of LeGrande's Menswear for many years.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Flake was preceded in death by a son, Richard L. Flake, Jr.; a sister, Mary Ann Witt (Tommie); six brothers, Sidney Flake (Carrie Ann), John D. Flake (Shirley), James E. "Buster" Flake (Jane), Burnett M. "Maybank" Flake (Dorothy), Dwight E. "Ike" Flake, and Mack Daniel Flake.
Surviving family members include his wife, Joyce Jones Flake; four children, Nancy Flake White (Larry), Timothy P. Flake (Kristin), Mark D. Flake (Teri), Marie F. Pohlman (Jason); sixteen grandchildren, Richard Flake III, Caroline Flake, Elizabeth Flake, Patrick Flake, Bobby White, Megan White, Michael White, Rebecca Cockrell (Trey), Dwight Flake, Jenna Flake, Fisher Flake, Dustin Flake (Alexia), Kristen Baker (Chris), Ryan Flake, Christopher Pohlman, and Bennett Pohlman; ten great-grandchildren, Parker Flake, William Flake, Liam Anderson, Kason Molton, Trace White, Ellie Hayes White, Regan Cockrell, Carter Flake, Nolan Flake, and Olivia Pohlman; a daughter-in-law, Susan Flake.
