James was born about 1799 in North Carolina and is believed to have been the son of Moses Burris and Frances McKinney. He married 9 Jan 1831 in Hancock Co., IN Anna Beachman/Rogers born about 1794 in Ireland, died 25 Jun 1878. They had 4 children – Thomas, Lucinda, Johnson, and Henry H.
