Two-year-old Curtis was visiting the family of his father, Curtis Williams, for the Thanksgiving holidays in Newark, New Jersey on November 18, 1989. His mother had primary custody of him, and they resided together in South Carolina at the time. Curtis reportedly did not want to leave his mommy to travel to New Jersey for the visitation, and his mother had to reassure him that the trip would be fine. Curtis was last seen walking slightly behind his father, his father's girlfriend and the two baby daughters Williams and his girlfriend had together. The family had been window-shopping in downtown Newark. Williams said he reached behind to take his son's hand as the group crossed an intersection, but Curtis had vanished. Years later, in May 2007, Williams admitted to killing his son and stated that he buried the child in a shallow grave under the New Jersey Turnpike in Jersey City, New Jersey. Numerous unsuccessful searches have been conducted, but little Curtis has never been found. This is his only place of remembrance.
