Steven Harrison, Sr. went home to his Heavenly Father May 10, 2023, at the age of 101. He was born March 6, 1922, in Kimbeto, NM to Gebah Lope and Ethelwood. His clan is Bit-Ahnii and born for Tsenahabilnll. He made his home in Dzilth-Na-O-Dith-Hle, NM with his beloved wife Vera Harrison.

Our father, grandfather and uncle was a loving, caring and kind man. He went to Methodist Mission School until 4th grade. He entered the Navy May 17, 1944, and served on USS Texas, BB-35 in the Pacific. He saw the flag raised on Mount Suribachi on the Island of Iwo Jima February 23, 1945. He was discharged on May 24, 1946. After serving his country he married Vera Gleason and had 10 children and made his home in Farmington, NM. He worked for Santa Fe and Southern Pacific Railroads. He worked as a construction worker in Farmington, NM. He retired with the Laborer Local Union 16.

He is survived by daughters: Isabell Beyale (Larry), Arlene Johnson (Raymond), Joann Smith (Jimmy), Gloria Harrison Nez (deceased Henry), Germaine Manuelito. Son: Wade Dale Harrison. He has 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by Father Ethelwood, Mother Gebah Lope Nez Begay. Beloved wife Vera Harrison, Daughters Betty and Eleanor Harrison, Sons Steven Harrison, Jr. and Gilmore Harrison, and Stepfather Hosteen Nez Begay.

Funeral service is May 20, 2023, at 10:00 am at Carson Faith Assembly in Carson, NM. Burial is at Brethren in Christ (BIC) in Otis, NM. Reception at Carson Faith Assembly. Funeral arrangements by Desert View Funeral Home Shiprock, NM.
