Garnald Gerald Harshey, 77, Martinsville, died March 17, 2008, at his residence.

Born July 20, 1930, in Monroe County, he was the son of Chester F. and Tulie (Platt) Harshey.

He married Anice (Hayden) Harshey on Sept. 3, 1953, and she survives in Martinsville.

He retired in February of 1994 from the South Central Indiana REMC as a supervisor. Prior to that, he had worked at local service stations.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.

He enjoyed mushroom hunting, gardening, building model cars, crossword puzzles and traveling.

He was a member of the Church of Christ at Unionville.

Other survivors include two sons, Jerry Duane Harshey of Martinsville and Gary Eugene Harshey of Bargersville; a brother, Marshall Harshey of Avon; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Dale, Norris and Von Harshey; and three sisters, Mildred, Elma Imogene and Fay Harshey.

There will be a private service on Thursday at the Hilldale Cemetery in Martinsville. The Rev. Pat Davis will officiate.
