Mrs. Lucille Williams Griffin was born January 4, 1916 in Batesburg, South Carolina. She was a daughter of the late John and Mary Raiford Williams. She was also the widow of the late John Walter Griffin. She departed this life for eternal life with the Lord on Sunday, March 2, 2008.

Lucille was baptized at an early age at the Reedy Branch Baptist Church in Johnston, South Carolina. After moving to Columbia, South Carolina, she joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She served on the Jubilee Choir for thirty-eight (38) years; served as a member of the Garden Club, Pastor's Aide, Sunday School Class, Women's # 2 Order of the Tents, Light of Columbia # 19 and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit 20. She served all until her health failed.

Mrs. Lucille Williams Griffin leaves to cherish a legacy of her loving memory: her four daughters, Mrs. Mary Tyson Edwards, of Columbia, South Carolina, Mrs. Deloris (John) Runnels, of North Augusta, South Carolina, Mrs. Jacqueline (Alvin) Wood, of Columbia, and Ms. Debbie Griffin, of Irmo, South Carolina; one son, Mr. Edward Griffin, of Columbia; five granddaughters, Mrs. Patrice (Dion) Miles, Mrs. Keisha (David) Battiste, Mrs. Kionna (Kodell) Keels, Mrs. Staci Eichelberger and Ms. Allyson Wood; four grandsons, Charles E. Williams, John (Susie) Runnels, Kevin (Torina) Wood and Yakima Dargan; eight great-grandchildren, Mercedes, Shoquille, Aylissa, Jordon, Jalen, Justin, Waverly and Noah; two nieces, Mrs. Mattie Dorsey and Mrs. Anne Louise Boswell; two nephews, Mr. Willie Lee, Jr. and Mr. Richard Williams; two sons-in-law; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; a host of other loving relatives and caring friends, including a special friend, Miss Judy Morris, of Columbia; all of whom will miss her dearly.

Services for Mrs. Lucille Williams Griffin, formerly of 419 Toal Street, will be held at noon (viewing at 11:00 a.m.) Wednesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Lyon Street with burial in Palmetto Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at their respective homes. Leevy's Funeral Home, Taylor Street Chapel, is in charge.
