Daniel Comins, an aged and much respected farmer of the town of Florence, died at his late home on the river road at 11:30 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 7, after a long and painful illness. He was born at Newport, Herkimer County, Dec. 31, 1818, where he spent is boyhood. In 1847 he married Esther Willoughby and they moved to East Florence where they made their home. In 1858 she died and later he married Jane Owens, who died in 1865. In 1864 he went to the war, where he remained until the close. In 1867 he married Lucinda Russell, and they moved to the place where he died. He was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor, and was always ready to help anyone in time of trouble. Besides his wife, nine children are living, Edgar and Daniel of West Camden, Ezra of Flat, Kansas, James of Grand Junction, Col., Mrs. Flora Owen of Polant, NY., William, Charles, Jay, Mrs. Ida Russell, and one stepson, Walter Russell, all of Camden. The funeral was held Saturday at his late home. The GAR attended ina body, and also many friends gathered to show their last respects. Rev. E. H.Joy preached the funeral sermon. Interment was made in Camden cemetery.
