Jr., as he was affectionately called, was educated in Lee County School District and was a part of Bishopville High School graduating class of 1972. Jr joined the Armed Forces and was enlisted in the U.S. Army for four years. While serving his country he had the pleasure of being stationed in Alaska and Colorado. He enjoyed doing housework, gardening, and was an avid movie watcher. Jr. was known to be a very caring and God-fearing man who loved his family dearly.
In addition to his parents, Jr. was preceded in death by his brothers, Sergeant First Class John E. Barr, as well as many paternal and maternal aunts and uncles.
