Son of Joseph Gulley and Martha E. Mitchel. Married first Rosetta York December 19, 1897, Clay County, Tennessee. Married second Mary Phillips Neely February 3, 1923, West Frankfort, Franklin County, Illinois.

Herbert A. Gulley Dies Saturday at His Home in Valier
Herbert A. Gulley, 74, died Saturday at his home in Valier. Mr. Gulley was a resident of this county for 40 years. His wife was Rosetta Gulley, who died in 1942. He is survived by five children: Herschel Gulley, Valier; Mrs. Ida Well, Flora; Mrs. Mary Faubel, Peoria; Earl Gulley, Christopher and Mrs. Verna Lingle, East St. Louis. Another son was the late Irvin Gulley. He also leaves the following brothers and sisters: Joe and Robert Gulley, Valier; Oliver Gulley and Mrs. Arey Foster. Christopher; George Gulley, Sesser; Mrs. Ada Web (sic) (should be Phillips), Chicago; Mrs. Ossie Parks, (sic.) (should be Park) Buckner and Mrs. Daisy Armstrong, Princeton, Indiana. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Second Baptist Church in Valier. Reverend Harold Conroyd will officiate with interment in Mt. Pleasant cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Union Funeral home in Christopher.
