MANWARING Date: November 7, 2000 Aug. 25, 1905 -- Nov. 4, 2000 Naomi Shepard Manwaring, 95, of Turlock died Saturday at Vintage Faire Convalescent Hospital, Modesto. Mrs. Manwaring was a native of Richmond, Utah. She lived in Turlock 26 years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Turlock, 1st Ward. She wrote a best-selling children's book about San Francisco cable cars titled "Cable Car Joey," printed in 1949 by Stanford University Press. She is survived by her children, Van MacCabe of Sandy, Utah, and Sondra MacCabe "Sami" Nelson of Turlock; stepchildren, Barbara Tea of Salt Lake City and Beverly Pepperdine of Port Angeles, Wash.; brother, Guy Shepard of Tooele, Utah; and 24 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Turlock Stake Center, Turlock. Burial at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, Colma. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Eaton Family Funeral & Cremation Service, Modesto, in charge of arrangements.
