John Karastes, 84, died Monday, Sept. 14, at Memorial hospital, Menomonie, DeCamp Funeral Home, Glenwood City, was in charge of the services held Friday, Sept. 18, at 2 p.m. at the Wilson Lutheran church, Pastor Selmer Knutson officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
He was born Feb. 8, 1886 at Leadville, Colo. When he came with his parents to Wisconsin and lived in Cady township, St. Croix county until 1936 when he traveled extensively in the United States for three years. He then lived in Hudson until 1948 when he moved to Menomonie where he lived since. The past one and a half years he had been a resident of the Graff Nursing Home.
He is survived by a brother, Joseph Karastes, Woodville, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Krueger, Knapp.
