Charles was the fourth of ten children (and the first son) of Lemuel Lewis Yarborough and Martha Susan (Mattie) Adams. On 28 July 1932 in Pike County, MS, he married Bessie Miller (File Number 0031336 Book/Page F-F / 302). Bessie (1912-1975) was a daughter of Issac L. Noah) Miller and Matilda Sena Hilbun. Charles and Bessie had no children. They made their home in Baton Rouge.

Charles served in the U.S. Army during the second World War (see his obituary for details).
