Mrs. Martha Stokes, 87, of Victoria, Texas, dies Sunday, September 15, 2002.
She was born August 11, 1915, in Brownwood, to the late William Henry and Bettie Holcomb Nicholson. She was a LVN. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Survivors are: daughters Merry Merian of Victoria, Texas and Carol Elliott of Grapevine, Texas; son Ed Stokes of Columbus, Ohio; brother William Henry Nicholson Jr. of Harper's Ferry, Virginia; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband Bill Stokes and her parents.
A rosary was recited September 16, 2002 at 7:00 P.M. at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel.
Services were at 2:00 P.M. September 18, 2002 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Greg Korenek officiting. Pallbearers: Ken Merian, Todd Polasek, Ed Stokes, Wes Stokes, Jason Ort and James Frels. Memorial can be made to Habitat for Humanity or your choice.
