Jerry is survived by two sons: Scott (Karen) Haney, Piqua, OH; Michael (Bridget) Haney, Piqua, OH; one daughter: Julie (Russ) Reed, Piqua, OH; one brother: Richard Haney, Piqua, OH; one sister: Dianne Bair, Piqua, OH; one brother-in-law: Gary Enz, Columbus, OH; special girlfriend: Dana Schilling; eight grandchildren: Ellen Haney, Frances (Brendan) Fries, Jarod Haney, Ryan Haney, Morgan Haney, Stefani (Kenny) Pierce, Jenna (Kyle) Reed, and Jeremy Reed; six great-grandchildren: Kaylei, Brock, Jayna, Joey, Mili, and Emmitt; and his dog Jake. He was preceded in death by four sisters: Joyce Lake, Shirley Denman, Beverly Miller, and Peggy Rose; four brothers: Robert "Jack" Haney, Ronald Haney, Keith Haney and Clarence "Fuzz" Haney.
Jerry graduated from Piqua Central High School in 1961 and attended Edison State Community College in Piqua. He worked for General Motors in Dayton, OH for 31 years as a lift truck operator Midwest Logistics for 9 years and a long haul truck driver for several years. Jerry was also an Auxiliary Police Officer for Piqua for several years. He loved to fish, dance, bowl, roller skating, ride motorcycles, play the lottery and work on and restore old cars.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday April 13, 2023 at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME, Piqua, OH with Pastor Robert Denman officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio's Hospice of Miami County 3230 N. County Rd. 25-A, Troy, OH 45373.
