Frank Porter Dies Wednesday at Home at Pleasant Valley

"Frank Porter, 48, died at his home near Pleasant Valley Wednesday morning at 6:30 from pneumonia following influenza. He contracted influenza two weeks ago and was confined to his bed until the time of his death.
He was born on the farm now known as the Dan Meek farm two miles west of Roscoe, August 24, 1872. At the age of 22 he was united in marrige to Miss Clonnia Randles of Roscoe. To this union four children were born. He later, with his family, moved to the George Compton farm, where his wife died. Seven years ago he was again united in marriage. He married Miss Angie Parks, near the Branch church. To this union one child was born, Winford, age 5.
After their marriage, he with his wife and family moved to their home near Pleasant Valley where he died.
Mr. Porter followed the occupation of a gardner for more than 15 years, having been employed by P.C. Shipps, in Pleasant Valley vicinity, previous to his death.
Mr. Porter had been highly respected in every community in which he lived. He deserved this reputation because he had been industrious and conscientious in his dealings.
There are surviving four children by his first wife. Mrs. Elmer Lint, Warsaw; Mrs. French Wright, Akron; Mr. Leslie Porter, Akron, and Elsie Porter, Warsaw. One child, Winford aged 5, by his second wife, also survives. There are four brothers and three sisters: Mrs. Susie Porter, Mrs. Mary Swaggard, and J. W. Porter, all of Roscoe, Mrs. Harrison Randles, west of Roscoe; J. E. Porter, Maro Porter and W. B. Porter, all of Coshocton.
The funeral cortege will leave the residence at 1:30, and the funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock at the Roscoe M. E. church. Burial will be made at the Roscoe cemetery. Rev. M. B. Mead of the Roscoe M. E. church will have charge."


James "Frank" was married to Clonia B. (Randles) the daughter of Adeline (McBride) and John Holly Randles. James & Clonia had the following known children: Mrs. Verna Higgins, Grover Randles and Issac Randles.Per Federal Census: Velma b. Nov 1893, Lesley H. b. May 1895 and Emma b. Jan 1897
