Stanley Warren Hyland, 84, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at Field Crest Care Center, Hayfield.
He was born Aug. 18, 1920, in Dodge County, to Obert and Alma (Jensen) Hyland.
On June 18, 1940, he married Elvina Himle at West St. Olaf Lutheran Church in rural Hayfield.
The couple lived a few years in California, where Stanley worked at Lockheed Aircraft. He later returned to rural Hayfield and was drafted into the military. He was self-employed in television sales and service for a number of years, and worked for the Hayfield Window Company until retirement.
Stanley enjoyed music and began performing at the age of 16, singing on KATE radio in Albert Lea. He continued in the music business until he was in his late seventies.
In 1991, he and Elvina moved to Kasson. In 2000, Stan moved to Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.
Survivors include his sons, Gene (Susan) Hyland, Hayfield; Jerry (Ginny) Hyland, Hayfield; daughter, Sheila (Mike) Kyllo, Hayfield; brothers, Richard Hyland, Hayfield; Robert (Cay) Hyland, Albuquerque, N.M.; sister, Lorraine Hart, Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elvina, on April 4, 2004; two brothers and three sisters.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at the funeral home and Wednesday at the church for one hour before the service.
Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday at West St. Olaf Lutheran Church in rural Hayfield with Rev. Kathy Gauger officiating.
Interment: West St. Olaf Lutheran Church Cemetery with military honors by the Hayfield American Legion Rothie Post #330.
