Kent Searle, lifelong resident of American Fork, died suddenly on February 8, 2008 of cardiovascular disease. He was born in American Fork on May 25, 1927 to Leslie C. and Ruby Parker Searle and grew up with his two brothers and two sisters in the old third ward. He attended school in American Fork and graduated from American Fork High School where he played football and basketball. He was a lifelong caveman and loved to attend State Basketball tournaments, especially when his grandson Clayton played for Am. Fork. On September 9, 1948 he married Luana Greenwood in the Salt Lake Temple. He operated a dairy farm and apple orchard. In addition, he and Luana were involved in the real estate business. The two of them traveled extensively with family, friends, and professional colleagues. His favorite trip was to Yellowstone Park. The entire family came to look upon the annual pilgrimage with anticipation. He was always involved in agriculture, particularly issues involving water. He served as president of the American Fork Irrigation Co. and as a member of the Board of Directors of the North Utah County Water Conservancy District. He also served as president of the American Fork Lions Club. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held many positions throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife, Luana, two sons, Lee (Louise) Searle, Craig (Cheryl) Searle; seven grandchildren, David and Kim, Aaron and Allie, Nathan, Jennie, Marcus, Clayton and Kristen, the delights of his life were his three great-grandchildren, Shyloe, Peyton, and newly arrived Roklyn. He is also survived by his sister, Myrna Milne; two sisters-in-law, Edith W. Searle and Helen S. Smith; brother-in-law Richard E. Cook; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Kent and Carol Robinson.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Max and Don; and sister, Clea Cook.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the American Fork 13th Ward 975 North 60 East. Friends may call Tuesday at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday at the Church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Burial in the American Fork Cemetery.
