Sarah Elizabeth's parents were John Thomas Flippo and Vicie Catherine Warren. His father later married Georgia Matilda Hendrix Hanes.

Mrs. J.A. Phillips, 78, was a resident of Jones County since 1908. She moved with her family to Johnson County, Texas from Marion County, Alabama. She moved with her family to Buffalo Gap in Taylor County in 1888.

Sarah Elizabeth Flippo married J.A. Phillips on 24 September 1893 at Buffalo Gap, Texas. The couple moved to Jones County in 1908.

Services were held at the Bethel Baptist Church in the Funston Community of which she was a member.

Survived by four daughters - Mrs. O.F. King, Mrs. J.T. Rhodes, Mrs. W.B. Daughtesty, Mrs. C.C. Beaty; one brother - Andy Flippo; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
