Child Hanson was named Julia. She was born in 1870 to Michael Johan Steen Hansen and Maren Hansdatter (Hott) Fjeld, both known by (M J S Hanson and Mrs. Mary Hanson). The family was overcome by the yellow fever epidemic that hit Memphis between July and October 1878 and 5,000 people perished. Child "Julia" Hanson died 1 Sep 1878 and her father followed her two days later on 3 Sep 1878. Mary, their infant daughter, and their son survived and moved to Wisconsin to join Mary's (who had also immigrated from Norway) brother and his family living there.
