Leopold's parents were Josephus Palen & Anne Catherine (Pletschette) Palen both of Bachlieden, Luxembourg. Both were Catholic. They are buried in the Calvary Cemetery in Caledonia, Houston County, Minnesota.
My maternal Grandmother, Phylis Eugenia Adele (Palen) Linderman, was the daughter of Frank Joseph Palen and Emma Elsie (Clausen) Palen.
According to the U.S.Census for Caledonia, Houston County, Minnesota for 1880, May's father, Frank Haupert (Hupert), resided with "Leo" and "May" Palen in 1880. He was listed as age 72, retired farmer from Luxembourg. So far, I have not been able to find a death date or place for him (2015). All were raised as Catholic.
Many thanks to Vernon Walser Palen for much of the information on the Palen Family history, and his Palen Family Pedigree Chart from 1962, received from Virginia Palen Long.
Thanks to Leonard Greenwood, I now have a photo of Leopold & Mary (Haupert) Palen's headstone. Thanks so much, Leonard.
