Vera Violet Bridges was the first child of Edward Leslie Bridges and Boonie Coffey-Bridges. Vera Violet Bridges married Mark Anthony Chism on Decemeber 4, 1924, in Leakey, Real County, Texas.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Mark Anthony Chism. Also both of her parents, her brother Carson Leslie Bridges, her sister, Clara Revelle Bridges-Dick. Vera was preceded in death by her daughter Dorothy Jeanette Chism (b. 3-29-1930 d. 7-5-1930) and her still-born son (4-7-1931).

Vera is survived by her brother Edgar Lee Bridges, her sisters Della Jeannette Bridges-Harris and Ethel Marie Bridges-Barnes, and her daughters Clara Marguerite Chism-Neuhaus and Mary Marie Chism-Wright, 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

During World War II, Vera worked at the Blue Bonnet Coffee Shop and Winn's Variety Store in San Antonio, Texas. Vera helped out during World War II by opening her home as a boarding house to young servicemen.

After the war, Vera and her husband Mark Anthony Chism, managed the Flying L. Dude Ranch in Bandera, Bandera County, Texas until 1962. Vera was a hard worker, and cared for anyone in need. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
