• SULPHUR -- Graveside services for Pat V. Howard, 82, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Drake Cemetery with the Rev. Eddie Malphrus officiating.

Howard was born June 13, 1918, in DeQueen, Ark., to William F. and Minnie W. Edgington Howard. He died Oct. 28, 2001, in Sulphur.

He moved to Sulphur in 1933 and was a prisoner of war in Corregidor while serving with the Army in 1941. After his discharge he lived in Georgia then returned to Sulphur in 1957. He was employed by the City of Sulphur at the pollution control facility from 1969 until he retired and was also a welder. He and Doris Murray Grice were married July 12, 1957. She died July 14, 1988. He and Mary Atchley Lewis were married Feb. 3, 1995. She died Nov. 12, 1995. He was also preceded by two brothers, Franklin and Clay; and two sisters, Minnie Conner and Anna Ontjes.

Survivors include stepdaughters, Carol Dyer and Patricia Collins; stepsons, Johnny, Cecil, Clayton and Maxie Grice; and two brothers, J.J., Oklahoma City, and Richard, Roswell, N.M.

Clagg Funeral Home will direct services.
