Funeral services for John Hershell Cathey, age 47 who died in Oakland California, on October 14 were conducted in the chapel of Burke-Jones Funeral Home Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. B. W. Morgan, Hartshorne officiating. Burial was in the Damon cemetery.

Cathey was born Wilburton on July 8, 1914. A veteran of World II, he was employed as welder in Oakland at the time of his death.

He is survived by one daughter, Connie Sue Cathey, Oklahoma City, his father, J. R. Cathey of Wilburton; four sisters, Mrs. Lola Lockerby, Mrs. Harris Johnson, Mrs. Gedeman? Brown? and Mrs. Venice Maxwell, all of Wilburton; and four brothers, Jeff Cathey, Dwite Cathey and Junior Cathey, Wilburton and J. W. Cathey, Oakland.
