She is a daughter of William Elmer Brennan (1880-1956) and Iva Maude (Long) Brennan (1891-1931). She married Parley Elmer (Ben) Turpin (1907-1986) on May 24, 1934 in Clinton, Illinois. She was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1944 and was sealed to her husband for eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on 12 Nov 1954.

FARMER CITY -- Viona Evelyn Turpin, 93, of Farmer City passed away at 10:55 a.m. Friday (Nov. 25, 2005) at Jackson Heights Nursing Home, Farmer City.


Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, 106 N. Main St., Farmer City, with Bishop Rick Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Weldon Cemetery, Weldon.


Mrs. Turpin was born on Oct. 29, 1912, at Weldon, a daughter of William Elmer and Iva Maude Long Brennan. She married Parley Elmer Turpin on May 24, 1934, in Clinton. He passed away Dec. 4, 1986.


She is survived by one son, Max (Karen) Turpin, Washington, Utah; two daughters, Phyllis (Vaughn) Birch, Farmer City, and Sue (Jack) Hayes, Monticello; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.


She was preceded in death by one son, Mark Matthew Turpin; one grandson, Todd Warren Hayes.; (1962-1994) her parents; and three brothers, Irwin Brennan., Johnnie Brennan and Wilford Brennan.


Mrs. Turpin had been a school bus driver for Farmer School District for eight years. She also had worked for Phipp's Department Store, A & P Grocery Store and Reeder's Shoe Store, all of Farmer City.


Mrs. Turpin was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3rd Ward, Champaign, and a member of the Farmer City Birthday Club.
