She grew up on a form in the Burgessville Community north of Ruston. Graduated Ruston HS in 1936 and then moved to Shreveport to attend nurses' training. She married Robert W. Collins Jr. in 1939. She retired from the Caddo Parish Health Unit in 1986.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son, John Robert Collins, and her parents John L. and Elizabeth Hinton Boddie.
