Phin was born in Norway, S.C on April 4, 1933. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Mary Davis Free. Phin and Mary are long time members of Highland Park United Methodist Church.
Phin graduated from Norway High School in 1951 where he was a three-sport athlete. After graduating he joined the Liberty Life Insurance company. He proudly served his country in the SC Army National Guard, in The United States Army and in The US Army Reserve. After completing his military service Phin attended the University of South Carolina, graduating in 1959 with a degree in Business Administration. Phin spent his professional life in the cash register and point of sale business where he spent 20 years with The National Cash Register Company where he was a multiple CPC award winner. During his career he assisted in the opening of many of the very first Myrtle Beach hotels and restaurants. He loved the profession of sales as it afforded him the opportunity to help others.
