Elizabeth was the daughter of Johannes Beroth, one of the 12 men who walked from Bethlehem, PA to begin Bethabara, the initial Moravian settlement in NC. Her mother was Catharine Neumann, who married Johannes and both walked from Bethlehem, PA to new Bethabara settlement. Elizabeth first married (Johann ) George Keller, who was 20 years her senior. They had 5 known children. They lived in Bethania. He died in 1808. She then moved in with her brother John. She married second Henry Ripple, a prominent Lutheran minister, in 1825. She converted to Lutheran faith until his death, then returned to Moravian faith in 1845. Her will leaves to son John and daughters Anna and Elizabeth Barneycastle. This is a mystery as the only Elizabeth Barneycastle known is her grand daughter, so perhaps she is the one.
