According to 1870 census the family lived in Lavaca Co. She would have been born there, I presume.

The circumstances of Mattie's death appear in the trial record of Texas v. Babe Summerlin, Mattie's brother. The witness is James Thomas Adams, Mattie's husband.

"I was married to Mattie Summerlin on the thirty-first day of July 1901. At the time that I was married I was living at McClanahan, in Falls County, Texas, and was married at that place. Yes, my wife was a sister to this defendant."

TX m. index says 1 Aug 1901, but what's 1 day more or less?

"But my wife lived about 18 months after her mother did leave. Her mother left about the first of the year 1910, and my wife lived during the remainder of that year and then we moved to Falls county in the fall, in November I think it was."

"My wife then remained there [Falls Co.] until August 26th the following year, in 1911."

"My wife was supposed to have died about the last of March this year [1912], but I do not know, that is what I have been told. No, sir, I was not with my wife when she died."

"After my wife had come back up here [Fisher Co.] from Falls County, and died up here, the child [Dewey] was sent back to me in Falls County at my request."

There are some assumptions here. If Mattie d. in Fisher Co., and her husband was in Falls Co., then Mattie's burial was probably arranged by her mom Eliza and her brother William Edward. They would probably buried Mattie in Roby Cemetery where several other Sumerlins are buried, including William Edward.
