Gene was born on April 1, 1924 to Roland and Marie (Montgomery) Wiggins, in Coshocton, Ohio.
Gene was a Professor at Valparaiso Technical Institute and helped build WNWI radio station. He was associated with the school in 1942 to March 1943 and again in 1946-1947 after the war. He left Tech as a teacher in 1947 and became the chief engineer at an AM broadcast station in his hometown in Ohio then returned to Valparaiso in about 1953 to teach again.
He was a WW2 Army Veteran and spent time on Luzon and in Japan. He was very active in HAM radio and had a call sign of W9CWG.
Gene married the love of his life Helen L Weddle on May 15th, 1948, who survives, in Valparaiso, IN. He is also survived by his daughter Barb Wiggins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Marie, his son Donald in 2000, and son Richard in 1997.
There will be a Graveside Service on Friday, March 17th, at 1:00 p.m., at Memorial Park Cemetery in Valparaiso. Memorial Donations can be made to the Heart Association.
