January 9, 1932 ~ December 21, 2022 (age 90)

Elva M. Anson passed away on December 21, 2022, following a brief illness. Born January 9, 1932, in Klamath Falls, OR, to Rev. A. Harold and Jessie (Tewell) Drake, she was raised
with her brother, Edward, in the CA central valley. The daughter of an Assemblies of God minister, she grew up very active in church and school activities, including orchestra band, tennis, debate, and school government. She earned money by picking grapes, packing peaches and working in a local bakery. She graduated valedictorian from Reedley High School in 1949 and spent the following year serving the community and studying theology at the Central Bible Institute in MO. She returned to CA and got her B.A. and teaching credential at Fresno State College and taught 1st grade in San Diego and Sanger, CA, until her first child was born. She moved to Fair Oaks, CA, in 1960 and began writing when her youngest child entered kindergarten. Her first book was published in 1975 by Moody Press. She has authored six books, including her memoir. She has also written articles for many and been a guest on numerous radio talk shows across the country and several local and national TV shows. In 1980, she obtained her M.A. degree in counseling psychology and has practiced therapy for over 40 years as a licensed MFT. She was a popular speaker on topics ranging from relationships and parenting to personal growth. After the move to Fair Oaks, she joined the Fair Oaks Presbyterian church. The time she spent there led
to many lifelong friendships. Over the years, she worked to start and maintain the church library, helped with the food closet, taught Sunday School, led Pioneer Girls, spoke at Women's Retreats, and was an active member of both the Three Masters and the Spinnakers mariner ships. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Everett, her three children and their spouses, Janeé
(Deborah) Anson-King of Elk Grove, Eric (Susan) of Tucson, AZ, and Carla (Michael) Gottardi of Gold River. She also adored her two beautiful granddaughters, Emily and Kendra Gottardi.

* A celebration of her life will be held on February 17, at 11:00am, at the Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church, 11427 Fair Oaks Blvd., Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
