Everett Frankie Anson
March 13, 1931 ~ March 13, 2023 (age 92)
Passed away at home on March 2, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Creston, NE, the sixth of seven children, to Robert Waldo and Eleanor May (Stier) Anson,on March 13, 1931.
Because of some of his family's early struggles, he didn't learn to read until he was in the fourth grade. Even so, he went on to graduate from high school in 1951, excelling in football and track and field along the way. After graduation, he joined the navy and, although it was during the Korean War, he got to experience adventures in Hawaii, Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines. His most fortunate tour, however brought him to San Diego where he met another adventuring spirit, a young school teacher named Elva, who became his soul-mate for the next 67 years!
After his discharge from the navy, he earned a bachelor degree from Fresno State College and began his 34 year career as an electrical engineer, working at McClellan AFB and at CalTrans. His career with the federal government included two years at Sembach AFB in W. Germany. During those years, he and Elva enjoyed traveling through Western Europe and the northern part of Africa.
A week before his college graduation, they welcomed their first of three children. Their son was born three years later and the youngest child arrived just before they left Germany to return home to Fair Oaks, CA. He adored children and took an active role in caring for his two beloved granddaughters after he retired. Everett loved the outdoors. He and Elva camped and fished and hiked. They relished spending as much time as possible either in the mountains or at the ocean. He instilled this love for nature and being active in his whole family. He also loved playing games, building things, working in the yard and garden, and cooking good food.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Janeé (Deborah) Anson-King, Eric (Susan) Anson, and Carla (Michael) Gottardi; his two granddaughters, Emily and Kendra Gottardi; his brother Albert (June) Anson of NE; and several nieces and nephews. Burial will take place at the Fair Oaks Cemetery on March 15, at 1:00pm. Friends are welcome to attend. A celebration of his life will also be held on April 21, at 11:00am, at the Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church, 11427 Fair Oaks Blvd., Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
