Dolores Mae Granger age 89 of Marion, passed away, surrounded by family, on March 6, 2023.

Dolores (Dee) was born, March 13, 1933 in Marion, Ohio to the late William F. and Evelyn I Jones. She attended Marion Harding School as Dee Jones only to marry a Smith, Robert (Bob) Smith and together they had 3 children who survive. Victor C (Inez) Smith, Kevin C (Ruth) Smith and Judy J (Daniel) Kirkpatrick, all of Marion. Dee's grandchildren also survive her, Amy (Katrina) Smith of Columbus, Chad (Mariah) Smith of Sarasota , Florida, Sarah (Mike) Smith Smithback of Maumee, Emily (Brian) Smith Corbin of Marion and Ashley (Lee) Loeffert Lanier of Marion. Great grandchildren, Jayce Loeffert, Carson DeWitt and the Smithback's, Ethan, Trevor, Harper, Ona and Sophia and Alice Rainey.

Dee married Carl W. Granger in 1979. Together, they operated Granger Realty. During their marriage of 30 plus years they enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Erie, afternoon drives to the countryside and eating out. Carl preceded Dee in death.

Before a 40 plus career in real estate Dee also worked in LaRue, Ohio where the family resided, for Ridgeway Hatcheries. From there the family moved to Green Camp where Dee worked for BF Goodrich and also Wilson Bohanan Lock and Key. Dee returned to high school at Elgin and obtained her diploma in 1965. She did so well she soon became the High School secretary for then principal, Vernon Hensel. After leaving Marion for several years Dee returned home with her State of Ohio Real Estate License, a career she excelled in and truly loved! Dee loved all the camaraderie within the office whether it was an office meeting that included potluck or a birthday celebration with all the fixings Dee usually was found at the head of it all hence becoming known as "Aunt Bee".

Dee's most cherished times were spent on Put-In-Bay with her dear friend and islander, Evelyn Manter . Dee's closest friends Mary Ellen Withrow, Fran Hensel, Marguerite Martin and Evelyn Lashey met yearly on the island for a "girls week" and Dee cherished the family yearly vacations with the Smith's and the Manter's. These are memories her children will never forget. She also belonged to the Green Camp Friendship Club. This club included all the ladies mentioned above along with approximately 19 others and met for over 60 years!!

Another of Dee's absolute favorites was to spend time with her cousins, Sharon Middleton, Kaye McCoy, Diane Mahaffey, Dorothy Barger and Mary Jo Baker. When they were young with families, they would take turns at each other's homes spending a whole day sewing, ironing, crafting or whatever each of them enjoyed. As years passed and the children left home they remained close staying dedicated to frequent visits usually meeting at restaurants to critique not only the food but most likely the kids, grandkids and husbands, haha!

Dee was a member of St. Mary's Church. Dee loved Marion and was absolutely a "Marion Made" gal!

The family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to Joyce's Angels for the loving care provided. Special thanks to Marge, Mary Jo, Susan and Janet who have all surely earned their angels' wings.

Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 PM Sunday March 12 at Gunder Hall Chapel, 347 W. Center Street. The funeral service, officiated by Father Keller, will be on Monday, March 13 at St. Mary Church, followed by a graveside service at St. Mary's Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Mary Cemetery Endowment Fund, Nationwide Childrens Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, or Elgin Alumni Association Scholarship fund at Marion Community Foundation.

Snyder Funeral Homes, Gunder/Hall Chapel is honored to serve Dee's family. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting www.SnyderFuneralHomes.com.
