Ray Dean Mantle and his twin brother, Roy, were born 22 Feb 1936 at Cardin, Oklahoma. They were sons of Elven Clark Mantle and Lovell Richardson. He grew up in the Commerce, Oklahoma, area.

Ray attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Miami, Oklahoma. He was signed by the New York Yankees baseball club, but ended his baseball career when he was drafted by the U.S. Army.

Ray moved to Las Vegas in 1970 to join his brother, Roy, in the casino industry, where he worked until his retirement.

Ray passed away 03 Mar 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer, with loved ones at his side. A private funeral service was held.

Ray was survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Robert and his wife, Kim; and grandsons, Marlon and Mason, all of Las Vegas; sister, Barbara of Del City, Oklahoma, and brother, Larry "Butch" Mantle, of Lawton, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Mickey Mantle and Roy Mantle; and a half-brother, Theodore Davis.
Ray was an avid golfer and the shift work at the casinos allowed him to enjoy this passion.

Ray was the brother of the late New York Yankees center fielder, Mickey Mantle.
