Retired School Teacher, Principal and Church Musician BLYTHE, Ga. - Mrs. Mary Ricker Broome entered into rest Friday, February 29, 2008 in University Hospital, wife of the late Vernon W. Broome, Sr. and youngest daughter of James L. Ricker and Elizabeth Pennington Ricker. Mrs. Broome, a native of Blythe, Ga., retired from the Richmond County Board of Education. She graduated form the Blythe High School and later received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Georgia State College for Women. She was a member of Blythe Baptist Church serving as a pianist and organist for many years. She was a member of H2U. Survivors include: two sons, Vernon W. (Betty) Broome, Jr., Blythe, Ga. and James D. (Jan) Broome, Englewood, Fla.; two grandsons, Vernon W. Broome, III, Blythe, Ga. and James D. (Amy) Broome, Littleton, Col.; three great-great-grandchildren and two nephews. Graveside services will be held Monday, March 3, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the Blythe Baptist Churchyard Cemetery with Rev. Richard Dendler and Rev. Jerry Cole officiating. Memorials may be made to the Blythe Baptist Church Activity Building Fund, P.O. Box 300, Blythe, Ga. 30805. The family will receive friends this Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Rd., Martinez. Florist deadline: Monday, 9 a.m.
