Tatiana "Tanya" Mikolajczyk, 83, of Branford, Conn., an occasional visitor to Bovina Center, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2007, in New Haven, Conn.
Born July 23, 1923, in Novorossiysk, USSR (now Russia), the daughter of Pavel and Praskoviya Cyganenko, she was a survivor of forced collectivization in the USSR. During World War II, she was forced by the Nazi occupier to leave her country and work in Germany as slave labor. After liberation by the Americans she married Aleksy Mikolajczyk, and they immigrated to New York in 1949, later moving to Connecticut in 1977. She had been a widow since 1991.
Surviving are two daughters, Irene Maya Mikolajczyk, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Larisa, and her husband, Lev Obolensky, of Bovina Center.
Friends are invited to call 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 18, when the family will be in attendance at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, Delhi, and funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, at St. John's Episcopal Church, Delhi, by the Rev. Father Roman Krasovsky, of Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Monastery, Jordanville, with burial later in the Bovina Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to Bovina Emergency Squad will be appreciated.
Arrangements entrusted to Robert A. Peet, Delhi.
