Barry R. Barlup, 74, of Mont Alto, PA passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, February 21, 2023, in the emergency room of the Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 16, 1948 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Herman R. and Vera (Greenawalt) Barlup. He graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1966 and later graduated from pharmacy school in South Carolina. Barry served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 until 1969. For his service in Vietnam, he was the recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star with V Device, 2 Air Medals and the Army Commendation Medal. He and his wife of over 30 years, Jean (Fitz) Barlup, were married on February 29, 1992, in Washington County, MD. Following his graduation and discharge from the military, Barry worked as a pharmacist and was most recently employed as a Staff Pharmacist at the Gettysburg Hospital for over 25 years. He retired in 2015. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and carpentry.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, John R. Barlup (Thanpicha) of Savannah, GA, Barry B. Barlup (Egle) of Savannah, GA, Jason W. Barlup of Mercersburg, PA and Kathleen L. Rook (Derek) of Martinsburg, WV; one step-daughter, Jennifer D. Dennis (Christopher) of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his siblings, Cheryl Shew of Gettysburg, PA, Terry D. Barlup (Jessie) of Lillington, NC, Rhonda Middlekauff of Winchester, VA and Jeffery M. Barlup (Brenda) of Chambersburg, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Cynthia A. Phenicie.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 28, 2023 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, where military graveside honors will be conducted by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599, Chambersburg.
