He and his wife, Vera A. Greenawalt Barlup, were married July 20, 1946. She died March 26, 1990. Born July 31, 1923 in the Zullinger Area, he was the son of late Clarence A and Nancy A. Koonz Barlup.
He served in the US Marines, at Enrwetok Atoll, Marshall Islands during World War II. Mr. Barlup was a farmer in his early live. He owned and operated H. R. Barlup Construction Co. in Waynesboro for a number of years before owning and operating Barlup Transportation Co. in Waynesboro, from 1991. He owned and operated Barlup's Service Station in Fairfield. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and the National AARP.
He is survived by three daughters; Cheryl J. Shew of Carroll Valley, Cynthia A. Phenicie of Waynesboro and Rhonda J. Haskins of Tocoma, Washinton. Three sons Barry R. Barlup of Waynesboro, Terry D. Barlup of Broadway, NC., and Lt. Jeffrey M. Barlup stationed in Germany. 16 grandchildren and one great-granddaugher; four brothers Donald Barlup of Chewsville, MD, Wilmer Barlup and Thomas Barlup both of Waynesboro.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday in the Grove Funeral Home, 50 S Broad St, Waynesboro, PA with the Rev. David Drawbaugh officiating. Interment will be in the Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm
