Francis was born to Victor Basil and Eunice (Lemense) Barton. He married Ida Mae Bremmer on Sept. 8, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. She died May 31, 1985.
Francis was the owner of Barton's Auto Repair in Wisconsin Rapids and later was employed as a journeyman mechanic for Consolidated Papers Inc. retiring in 1983.
Francis served in the U.S. Air Force as an airplane mechanic serving in the South Pacific during World War II from Nov. 4, 1942 until Dec. 30, 1945. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 6 in Stevens Point, the Wisconsin River Country Club golf league and a member of Local 1306 at Consolidated Papers. Francis enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, playing pool and football.
