Went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday afternoon, February 6, 2023. John was born July 10, 1934 in Kalamazoo the son of William and Lena (Menninga) Haan.

He was a 1952 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and was a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo area. Prior to his retirement in 1990, he was employed for 35 years with the Upjohn Company and received the Upjohn Award in 1982. John was a longtime member of North Park Reformed Church where he served as Elder and Deacon. He was an active volunteer for Shepherds Escort Center, the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, the Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, and Prime Time. He enjoyed playing sports and walking the Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day. John especially loved his family and enjoyed helping them and others in any way he could.

He is survived by his brother, Menno (Judy) Haan; and several loving nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Andrew Haan, Joan Fike, Leona Bierenga, Anna Jean Stoppelberg; and nephews, AJ DeVries and Jamie Haan.

Friends may meet the family from 10:00-11:30am on Wednesday, February 15 at North Park Reformed Church, 1316 Barney Rd where funeral services will follow at 11:30am. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, North Park Reformed Church or Centrica Care Navigators.
