Roby - Funeral for John Wesley Ammons, 73, longtime Roby farmer, will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Roby Methodist Church with the Rev. James Kirby, pastor, and the Rev. E. L. Yates officiating. Burial will be in Roby Cemetery under direction of Patterson Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Mr. Ammons, who had lived near Roby for 49 years, died about 7:10 p.m. Wednesday in the Young Medical Center at Sweetwater. He had been ill since about December.
Surviving are four sons, P. A. of Roby, Johnnie and Ralph of Roby, and Ernest of Fort Worth; three daughters, Mrs. Harvey of Roby, Mrs. T. A. Hall of Sweetwater, and Mrs. Loy Neeper of Snyder; a brother, H. B. of Roby; a sister, Mrs. Fred Owens of Longworth; and 20 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Ona; a son, Corky, killed in Korea; and a daughter, Edith.
