Trudie S. French, 96, a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2006 at Brandon Court Nursing Home in Brandon. Visitation was at Milling Funeral Home in Union. The body was set up for view at Erin Church in Union. Services were at 11 am at the church with burial in the church cemetery.
Born on June 2, 1910, Mrs. Trudie was the daughter of L. E. and Elvie Shealy. She was the widow of Luther French and lifelong member of Erin Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She retired from Midland Shirt Company in 1972. When her health began to decline in 1996, she moved to Brandon to live with her daughter Delores Ladd and son-in-law Ernest. She attended Calvary Baptist Church in Brandon.
Affectionately called "Aunt Trudie" by numerous extended family members, she was a very special person. She was easy to love and loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. An excellent seamstress, she loved to quilt and crochet. Even as her eyesight and health failed, she continued to crochet and loved giving her handmade afghans to family and friend. Visits by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and loving friends were a great source of joy.
Mrs. French was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, James Earl French, six brothers, and three sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Delores French Ladd and her husband Ernest, of Brandon: a daughter-in-law, Annette French of Pearl, Grandchildren Kenny Ladd and wife Kay of Brandon: Ricky Ladd and wife Cathy of Metarie, La., Marty Ladd and wife Kay of Brandon, Ricky Ladd and wife Erin of Columbia, S. C. Kandy Butler and her husband Trent of Jackson. And Kim Lyle and her husband David of Madison. Fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends.
The family would like to express sincere thanks for the special care given by Ms HomeCare of Brand for the last three years, especially to Paul, Evelyn, and Peggy. Sincere appreciation is also extended to the staff at Brandon Court Nursing Home in Brandon, where she was a resident for the last month of her life.
