Fayette County - JUANITA TACKER LEATHERWOOD, 86, longtime resident of Moscow and wife of Gurtis Leatherwood died February 25, 2008. Services, 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with interment in the 45 Cemetery at Moscow. Visitation, 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Peebles Main Chapel. A member of 45 Baptist Church, Mrs. Leatherwood is also survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Mercer, Wanda Kay Leatherwood, both of Moscow; two brothers, J. Additional information provided by Find A Grave contributor David Mayo: JUANITA TACKER LEATHERWOOD, longtime resident of the Moscow Community and wife of Gurtis J. Leatherwood, died at 9 A.M. Monday February 25, 2008, at her residence on Price Road. She was 86 years of age and died following an extended illness. Funeral services for Mrs. Leatherwood were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, February 27th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. The officiating ministers were Rev. Wayne Hodge, pastor of the 45 Baptist Church and Rev. Howard Calvert of Wynne, AR, former pastor of the Church, officiating. Interment followed in the 45 Cemetery on Hwy. 57 near Moscow. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home - Main Chapel of Somerville. Mrs. Leatherwood was born June 10, 1921, the daughter of the late John J. Tacker and the late Blanche Reeves Tacker, early residents of the LaGrange area. She was married October 21, 1936, at the age of 15 to Gurtis J. Leatherwood, longtime Fayette County farmer, who survives. After their marriage, Mr. & Mrs. Leatherwood moved to the Moscow area where they have resided since 1936. Mrs. Leatherwood was a homemaker and was a member of the 45 Baptist Church near Moscow. She devoted her life to her family, friends and community and enjoyed preparing food for her family and others. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was associated with her husband in the operation of the family farm for many years. In addition to her husband of 71 years, Mrs. Leatherwood is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann Mercer and Wanda Kay Leatherwood, both of Moscow; two brothers, J.T. Tacker of Moscow, Albert Tacker of Chicago, IL and 2 grandchildren. Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Glenn Harvey, James Sides, Jay Minor, J.T.
