Age 91, went to her heavenly home on January 22, 2023 peacefully surrounded by her family under the care of Hospice and the Hospice Home. Barbara was a loving mother who married Everett Gier in 1950 and together they raised their family, she loved God and taught her children to love and love one another. Over the years together, they enjoyed family, friends, playing cards, and travel. They loved Upper Michigan and the highlight of their travels was a 6 week trip to Alaska. After raising her family Barbara went to work at Kmart where she retired from. Barbara enjoyed music, sewing, crocheting, reading and puzzles. She loved to cook, and her pies were a family favorite. She enjoyed flowers and genealogy, recording both sides of our family history. Barbara was a resident of Arbor North. Those that loved and cared for her knew her love of old movies, ice cream, and M&M's. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Everett, grandson, Shawn Kenton, brother, Red Natschke, and sister, Donna Hawkins. Surviving are her children, Cindy VanVleet, Brenda (Dave) Freese, Bradley (Terri) Gier, Juanita Gier, Julie (Dave) Babcock; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, sisters, Carol Harner and Bonnie (Art) Urbaniak. Barbara and her family have a deep appreciation for all the staff of Arbor North, Henry Ford Palliative Care, Henry Ford Hospice, and the compassionate staff of the Hospice Home.
