George was born March 21, 1932, in West, Mississippi to Luther "Luke" Edwards and Johnnie Self Edwards. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Durant, Mississippi. George served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 1983 and a Mason. George was retired from the Illinois Central Gulf as a Brakeman.
George is survived by son Jeff (Monica) Edwards of Walker, Louisiana; daughter Linnea McMillan of Canton, Mississippi; sisters Katherine (Donald) Williams of Kosciusko, Mississippi and Dorothy Burchfield of Madison, Mississippi; grandchildren Nick Edwards, Shelby Wilson, Jessica Edwards, Jude Bourgeois, Kayla McMillan, and Ryan McMillan; 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents Luther "Luke" Edwards and Johnnie Self Edwards; wife Margie Pace Edwards; brothers Charlie Edwards and Walter Edwards; sisters Ruth, Bessie, and Mary Frances.
Serving as pallbearers is Duane Pace, Brian Pace, Josh Pace, and Ryan McMillan.
