Politician, Academic. She was a prominent Mexican politician, lawyer, researcher, intellectual and academic noted for serving three times as a federal deputy and once as senator for the "Institutional Revolutionary Party" (PRI). Daughter of the painter Diego Rivera, Guadalupe completed a law degree and a doctorate in Law from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Standing out for her performance since her youth, she served in the Chamber of Deputies from 1961 to 1964 and again from 1979 to 1982. She was also a Senator from 1984 to 1988, delegate of the Álvaro Obregón delegation of Mexico City from 1997 to 2000, head of the National Institute of Historical Studies of the Revolutions of Mexico from 1989 to 1998 and president until her death​ of the Diego Rivera Foundation.
