Services for Larry David McKnight, 28, Blair, were conducted Saturday, March 13th 1976 at 9 a.m. in Blair Chapel with the Rev. Ernest Brock, the Rev. Bily Stanton and the Rev. Elbert M. Organ officiating. Burial was at the Creech Cemetery in Blair, Ky.

He was known as David by his loved ones. He was a very loving, hardworking and honest person; with a unique, fun loving personality. He will forever be young!!

David and his brother in law ~Scottie Combs~ along with eleven more of their friends/co-workers were killed in the explosion at the Scotia Mine Tuesday, March 9th, 1976. Within days, thirteen more miners were also killed in another explosion while attempting to rescue the victims of the first explosion.

In addition to his wife Diane(Nantz,Gillette) he was survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer E. McKnight, Cumberland; and a sweet daughter, Melissa, of Cumberland.

Also surviving were five brothers, Bob, Jerry, Don and Eddie of Cumberland; Bill of Gordon; three sisters, Wilma Craigg, New Mexico; Gladys Bush and Thelma Jackson, Cumberland; and grandmother, Mrs. Fannie Smith, Keokee.
There are a whole host of cousins, aunts,uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends left to grieve his passing.

David was taken to the family home and remained there until the funeral hour. Tri-City Funeral Home was in charge of his services.
